In the cosmological equivalent of Mario Kart, the universe constantly throws us cosmic banana peels for us to slip on--red shells in the case of extreme circumstances, although "Vermilion" perhaps covers that one. Beyond that, one thing we can unconditionally do to increase our happiness and better our experiences is to make our own odds. (Although it's not the easiest of activities.) This is a song about making our own luck, our own fortunes--lest we get lost in it all, the "blinding light" that gets mentioned a few times on this demo. The "you" is an intentional break: it's a pronoun that works reflexively to engage the reader/listener; it has a personal narrative significance; and also functions as a general term for everything in life we should or want to experience, yet layer conditions on.
This was written after nights of bad decisions. The title speaks for itself.
lyrics
I get lost waiting on that light
Filters from above
Defy our spectrum
I get tired waiting on those odds
To weigh in our favor
Rescind our made love
Still I want to explore you:
all trenches and dunes.
